This was recommended by the concierge at our hotel by the best restaurant to eat at... I think they may have meant Big Boy next door? Fish entree ordered was not deboned and either microwaved or just baked to death under the heat lamps. Along with the other entrees ordered at the table that aren't every worth the characters to elaborate on. It's a shame that is the low standard of food in Tawas. Management was embarrassing for this quaint northern beach town who chose to barely make our experience any better. Choose some other place to indulge on your Tawas vacation. Anywhere.. but here.

We stopped here on a trip after some recommendations and even after reading some of the negative reviews. We are very picky and tend to eat at upscale restaurants so I was skeptical going in. I have to say, we were pleasantly surprised and thought the atmosphere, service and food were great! Definitely would dine again!

I've taken countless to East Tawas over the decades, and eaten at every restaurant in town, and after two trips I can honestly say that this is the absolute worst food in the area. The first trip was prime rib: gristly and very fatty, and the potatoes were cold and lumpy. The second trip was with some friends. My steak fries were so overcooked the skins were black and flaked off like burned cardboard, and the edges of my burger were burned to a crisp. My friend's salmon was way overdone, rubbery and tasteless. It's not like the kitchen was overworked as there were only three parties in the whole place. Seriously, the Big Boy next door is better. I suggested that to my friends on my last trip, but they were intrigued by the decor and wanted to try it. The ambiance is just great and the wait staff is very nice, but unless the food improves a lot, I don't see how they'll stay in business. You can't eat the decor.

My husband and I weren't sure whether to try this restaurant based on many of the other reviews but were very happy we did! Both of us thought the Michigan salad with raspberry vinaigrette was very good. Both my husband's French onion soup and my whitefish were excellent! Service by Chris was great!

So I have read the reviews and I decided to give this restaurant a try. The seating area is nice and quiet. The waitress took at least 10 minutes to take my order. Of course the appetizer took about 30 minutes, it did taste good though. So when I asked the server why it's taking that long, and that is after 1 hour of placing an order, she started giving me those excuses that there is only one chef, and a few server, she also said that they have been open for so long and that's how it is, she doesn't see anything wrong with the restaurant and that they are well reviewed. That struck me, the amount of arrogance she had, not even trying to apologize for the delay. In the end, I didn't wait for the main course and left. Don't get me wrong, the food tastes good but expect to wait at least one hour or more to eat. I value my time, I don't know about you.

We come here every year when we are in town from DC and it's always a wonderful time. Don't listen to any of these reviews as we are foodies and have high standards. Wonderful service by the one and only Lisa and the best service for a large party. Don't hesitate to come here for a topnoch dinner

Without question this 5 stars is WELL DESERVED. You get what you pay for. My wife and I just enjoyed a nice night out here and in our opinion they have everything- great atmosphere (well-themed), a diverse menu, courteous wait staff, and the food...WOW. Starting with the bread- it was great. I had the 12 oz prime rib and I almost cried when I was done. IT WAS FANTASTIC! My wife had the Christies (sp?) chicken- with a sherry and honey sauce. It was fantastic and a good portion size. This should become a favorite for you too! We'll be back!

First, Chris, our server was excellent and attentive. The items we ordered were well prepared and delicious. We enjoyed the appetizer is mussels, the lobster bisque, and was pleased with the ahi tuna, and my guest was happily accommodated when requesting the walleye not deep fried but pan fried. Both were great. The wine list was very nicely done, good selections and fairly priced, but would have liked to see more Michigan wineries represented. The room was chilly when we arrived, but they had just opened for the evening, and it warmed up quickly. We will definitely be back

Puke. Really...do you need to know more? They don't have things they should, they talk you into other menu items that are more expensive. And it tastes like crapola. Don't bother if you have any choice at all.

I've only been here once, and not likely to go again. The food was not very tasty and the bartenders knowledge of drinks was meager. The only two positives were that the owner was really nice, he came and said hi to us at our table, and the ambiance was quite good.

For as expensive as this place is, it should be top notch. When you come in, you're struck by how comfortable the ambiance is--really nice pine walls, a fire in the fireplace and mounted game on the walls. You think you're in for something great! However, after waiting almost 10 minutes for our server to come to the table, I started to wonder . . . . The house salad (spring greens with bleu cheese and dried cherries) had way too much raspberry vinaigrette but the garlic rolls that came to the table with it were very good. I ordered one of the evening's specials of blackened Delmonico steak with bleu cheese. All I could taste were the blackening seasonings and the cheese--not the meat at all. I picked all the cheese off, but it was still disappointing. One of our party had a hamburger and soup, which he liked. The other had a strip steak and a smothered baked potato, neither of which elicited complaints nor raves. The bill for three of us was $75, which I wouldn't have minded paying if the food was really good. But it wasn't, so next time I'm in Tawas, I'll look for another place to have dinner.

I am not sure where to start. Cold air blowing in from the front doors, management did nothing to put an electric heater to mitigate. Were seated, and at least 15 mins before anyone showed up. We got our own menus. Finally got waters and rolls. Ordered food about another 15 minutes later. Bottom line was that it took an hour and 15 minutes for our food to show up and one member of our group did not even get her plate. Out of several items, prime rib that I ordered was gristly and lukewarm. Other issues, we finally got our bills in hand at 8:55pm and that was almost two hours since we were seated. I know that we will not go back unless it changes hands or others can prove service and food have improved. Very disappointing.

We've been here before and have enjoyed it. I'm not sure if our bad experience was due to the fact that we ate here during the off season. I ordered the tuna steak. It wasn't cooked as I ordered and they sliced it. I've never had it sliced at any other restaurant. Besides that, it was poorly sliced, mangled. I suggest that you wait until the summer to eat here.

Pretty doggone surprising! Definitely the place to try for a juicy medium rare steak and soft, fluffy baked potato. The salad was more than "just right". I'm going back soon to try the rest of the too many choices on their menu. Great service for a busy Friday night! Wish I had room to try the eye-popping desserts. Maybe it was the friendly welcoming atmosphere, but it hit my spot. Check it out!

Filet is the ticket here. House salad is great. They also have a fresh vegetable on the menu now. Great service! Ask for Lisa!

Food was OK. . Service was bad, bad, bad. My wife finished her drink before I even got my diet coke. I had to ask 3 times for a diet coke!! WTF. Bartender was more worried yelling orders at staff and complaining how busy she was rather than serving the people at the bar. WON'T GO BACK.

My fiance and I just ate hear this past weekend. The ambiance is quite nice, and our server was nice as well. However the wait was horrendous! and the food was below average for such high prices. Next time your in East Tawas, go to Barrnacle Bills, we had a better and cheaper dinner there the night before.
